Version v3 · Effective June 25, 2026

// In short

LeftLane records precise location and motion data for the drives you log. We use it to give you your telemetry and the features you ask for. We don't sell your data. You can export everything or delete your account at any time from Settings.

What we collect

Account & profile: your first and last name, birthday, region, chosen username, your phone number if you sign in by phone, and the email address from your Google or Apple sign-in.

Garage: the vehicles you add (make, model, year, engine, etc.) and any photos you upload. Photos are scanned on-device to blur visible licence plates before they ever leave your phone.

Drive telemetry: precise GPS location traces, speed, heading, altitude, and accelerometer/gyroscope motion data for the sessions you record, plus a weather snapshot for the drive.

Device & diagnostics: app version, device model and OS, and — if you leave crash reporting on — anonymous error reports. Crash reports never include your GPS traces.

How we use it

To provide the core product: record, map-match, analyse, and display your drives; compute achievements and aggregates; and sync your data across your devices.

To operate features you trigger: share-cards, public verification links, and live sessions publish the specific data you choose to share.

To keep the service working and safe: troubleshooting, preventing abuse and fabricated telemetry, and meeting legal obligations.

We do NOT sell your personal data, and we do not use your drive data for advertising.

Location data — please read

Driving telemetry is, by nature, precise location data. A recorded drive includes where it started and ended, which can reveal places like your home or workplace. Treat anything you share publicly accordingly.

We only record location while you are running a session or have enabled the relevant tracking mode. You can stop at any time, and you can delete individual drives or your whole account.

Third-party services

To deliver the app we rely on: Google and Apple (sign-in); Cloudflare (our hosting, database, and file storage); Mapbox (snapping your drive to roads and routing); OpenFreeMap (map tiles); OpenStreetMap/Overpass (nearby road and speed-limit context); and Open-Meteo (the weather snapshot).

Routing, road and speed-limit lookups, and weather are requested through our own Cloudflare servers, which query those providers on your behalf and cache the results — so your precise location is not sent to them directly. For weather it is also coarsened to roughly a 5 km area before it leaves our servers. Map tiles load directly from the tile provider to render the map. Each provider processes the data it receives under its own terms.

Storage, retention & security

Your account and drive data are stored on Cloudflare infrastructure. A copy of your recent drives is also cached locally on your device so the app works offline.

We keep your data while your account is active. Deleting your account removes your profile, vehicles, drives, samples, and uploaded photos (see "Your rights"). We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, but no system is perfectly secure.

Your rights

Access & portability: export everything we hold as a JSON file from Settings → Data → "Download my data".

Deletion: permanently delete your account and associated data from Settings → Delete account. This is a hard delete with no recovery.

Depending on where you live (e.g. the EU/UK under GDPR or California under CCPA/CPRA) you may have additional rights to access, correct, or restrict processing of your data. Contact us to exercise them.

Children

LeftLane is not directed to anyone under the regional minimum age and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Changes & contact

We'll update this policy as the app evolves and re-prompt you to accept material changes. Privacy questions or requests: privacy@leftlane.app.
